Hi, I am Dana Hantman! I am a Masters level Clinical Social Worker Intern who specializes in working with adolescents and young adults. I support individuals struggling with a variety of concerning issues including anxiety, trauma, ADD/ADHD, OCD, life transitions, relationship conflicts, self-esteem, and assist with life coaching. Through my compassion, person-centered approach, I meet clients where they are and will work collaboratively to facilitate recovery and wellbeing. Humor and kindness combined with psychoeducational information, I support my clients in overcoming barriers and reaching personal goals. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches like TF-CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, CBT, along with traditional Talk Therapy.

What Led Me To Becoming A Therapist

I wanted to become a therapist because I have always felt drawn to people and connection. I feel incredibly privileged to be trusted with the life stories and vulnerabilities of the people I meet, while also having the ability to offer support and guidance. In high school, I was best described as the friend who those could come to and express their struggles as my warm, genuine, and candid personality would help them feel at ease. These attributes are those I integrate in every session and has molded as my therapy style.

What I want for you during our sessions

My goal for you during our session is to establish an individualized relationship where you can feel comfortable and safe to explore internal experiences and barriers that can sometimes be uncomfortable expressing. I aim to help you engage and enhance your capacity for reflection, heart-searching, and self-awareness to better understand and navigate your past, present, and future. I want to help lead you to living an enriched, full and meaningful life by allowing you to feel empowered and hopeful in spite of grief, loss, and hardship.

    My education

I received my Bachelor’s degree in social work from Florida Atlantic University. I was part of Florida Atlantic University’s Advance Standing Master’s Program graduating with honors. I hold an extensive history of employment working with children and adolescents, whether it is in the field or in a school setting. Through my internships and employments, I have experience and training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy for trauma in schools, motivational interviewing, treatment planning, and clinical case management. I am accomplished and knowledgeable in establishing effective professional relationships with children, adolescents, families, and community partners. As an intern, I am always looking to learn and expand my knowledge in other therapeutic areas. I intend on being trained in psychodrama, play therapy, and sand tray.
