  • Olivia Shook, LCSW

Hi, I’m Olivia Shook, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing therapy for children, teens, and adults who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.

My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients of all ages feel seen, heard, and empowered to grow. Whether you’re a parent seeking support for your child, a teen navigating identity or peer struggles, or an adult carrying the weight of past experiences, I tailor my approach to meet your unique needs.

I draw from evidence-based practices including trauma-informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), play therapy, and sandtray therapy. I also incorporate traditional talk therapy to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, develop healthier coping strategies, and strengthen your relationships.

Together, we’ll work to quiet the inner critic, heal from painful experiences, and build the tools needed for a more balanced, connected life.

What Led Me To Becoming A Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist began with my own experience as a child. When my parents divorced at a young age, I started seeing a therapist-someone who had a profound impact on my life. That early experience sparked something in me: a deep curiosity about relationships, emotional resilience, and how our environments shape who we become.

As I grew older, that curiosity only deepened. I found myself drawn to understanding the dynamics within families, the unspoken patterns in relationships, and the impact of early life experiences on our mental health. In college, that interest turned into a passion, especially during my first internship working with children in DCF custody. That experience opened my eyes to the far-reaching effects of trauma and the incredible strength of those who face it.

Since then, I’ve been committed to learning everything I can about trauma, healing, and human connection. Being a therapist is more than a career-it’s a calling rooted in empathy, personal growth, and the belief that with the right support, people can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

What I Want For You During Our Sessions

In our sessions, my goal is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and genuinely supported. I want you to feel free to show up as you are-without judgment or pressure-and know that you’re not alone in what you’re facing. I also believe that therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process, and I want you to feel like an active participant in your treatment. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you, set meaningful goals, and work at a pace that feels right-so that the growth you experience in session can carry over into your everyday life.

    My Education

I earned both my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University, completing the clinical track of my MSW program in 2015. During my graduate training, I gained hands-on experience through internships focused on trauma, attachment, and child development. At a private practice in Tallahassee, I provided counseling and play therapy to children and adolescents, co-facilitated child-parent psychoeducation sessions, and developed skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. I also interned with ChildNet, where I supported families involved in dependency and drug court, conducted home visits, and collaborated with a multidisciplinary team to advocate for children’s safety and well-being. These early experiences deeply shaped my approach to trauma-informed care and continue to influence my work today.
