  • Carolina Meza, MS EMDR trained (Bilingual) Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Carolina Meza dedicated to supporting children, teens, adults, and families through life’s challenges. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, life transitions, relationship struggles, or low self-worth, you don’t have to do it alone.

My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, connection, and collaboration. I believe in meeting clients exactly where they are and tailoring each session to their unique needs and experiences. Healing isn’t linear, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, which is why I integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches, including:

    • Expressive Therapies (art, drama, dance, writing, music)

    • Play Therapy

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Mindfulness-Based Therapy

    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I also offer faith‑based counseling, integrating your spiritual beliefs, prayer, and scriptural insights into the therapy process. Therapy is a brave and transformative journey. Thank you for taking this step toward healing, growth, and self-discovery. It takes real courage to reach out, and I’m honored to walk alongside you.

What Led Me To Becoming A Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist started with my own need for healing.
There was a time in my life when I felt lost, alone, and unsure of how to move forward. Around that time, I discovered drama therapy, completely by chance, through an elective I took while studying for my acting degree. I had no idea then that this creative, experiential approach to healing would have such a powerful impact on me. But it did, and it changed everything.

From that moment on, I knew I wanted to help others experience the kind of transformation I had. It took a few more years (and plenty of learning and growing) before I officially started my master’s in mental health counseling. Along the way, I explored other expressive therapies and mindfulness-based practices, all of which continue to shape how I work today.

I was also lucky to meet some incredible therapists who supported me, challenged me, and held space for me when I needed it most. I carry those experiences with me in the work I do now. I try to be the kind of therapist I needed when I was younger, and the kind I was grateful to have later on.

What I want for you during our sessions

My hope is that, no matter what challenges you may be facing, this space will serve as a refuge. A place where fear, insecurity, and doubt can be transformed into courage, confidence, and clarity. Whether I’m working with children, teens, or adults, my goal is to create a non-judgmental, supportive, and compassionate environment where you can truly feel seen, heard, and understood.

While I strive to offer a comforting space, I also believe in the power of growth through challenge. When appropriate, I will encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone because real transformation often occurs there. I view therapy as a collaborative process, where you are the expert of your own life, or your child’s life, and I am here to support, guide, and empower you.

By the end of our work together, my hope is that you feel inspired, empowered, and deeply connected to yourself and the world around you. Growth is a lifelong journey, and I aim to equip you with the tools and confidence to navigate whatever challenges lie ahead. I offer my services in both English and Spanish.

    My education

I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting from New York University and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University. My background in the creative arts has fostered a deep interest in integrating creativity with therapy, which led me to pursue courses in trauma-informed expressive therapies. Additionally, I am EMDR-trained, a highly effective, evidence-based therapeutic approach focused on processing and healing trauma.

My clinical career began in a non-profit setting, where I provided individual therapy to children, teens, and families affected by domestic violence. I also facilitated therapy groups for children, gaining valuable experience in working with diverse populations. During this time, I learned how to incorporate play therapy and sandtray therapy to help clients express and process their emotions.

Before transitioning into the clinical field, I worked as a teacher at a small private school, eventually becoming the program director. In this role, I gained extensive experience supporting children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and a variety of mood disorders. This experience provided me with a deeper understanding of the unique challenges these children face and strengthened my ability to work collaboratively with families.
