Yanela Munoz Mora, LMHC Bilingual
Hi, I’m Yanela Munoz Mora a licensed mental health counselor, and I’m a bilingual therapist. I have always felt a deep sense of fulfillment in helping others, even before it became my profession. I naturally found myself listening, understanding, and connecting with people’s experiences on a meaningful level.
What Led Me To Becoming A Therapist
Although I initially pursued a different career path, I realized that my true passion was working with people and supporting them through their emotional journeys. Over time, I discovered that healing doesn’t always have to happen in traditional ways.
By integrating art, mindfulness, play, and other approaches into the therapeutic process, I aim to create a space where healing feels engaging, expressive, safe, and empowering — especially since this is the language children naturally understand. I believe that through self-awareness, reflection, and growth, individuals can transform their challenges into meaningful change.
What I Want For You During Our Sessions
I am committed to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to help you explore not only what you can express in words, but also what may feel difficult to say.
Through a collaborative and compassionate approach, we will work toward increasing self-awareness, emotional clarity, and personal growth. I integrate creative and expressive techniques — including elements of art, mindfulness, and role play — to support healing in a way that feels natural and meaningful to you.
As you begin to feel more comfortable and connected within the therapeutic space, you’ll be able to explore your thoughts, emotions, and goals more freely — and move forward to create the changes you seek in your life.
Services are offered in English or Spanish.
My Education
I completed my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Albizu University, where I gained diverse clinical experience across medical and specialized settings, including Kendall Hospital, a rehabilitation hospital, and the Design Neuroscience Center.
During my training, I worked alongside a neuropsychology team, which gave me a deeper understanding of how neural networks influence behavior, emotional responses, and cognitive patterns. This experience helped me recognize how individuals can develop maladaptive, or “faulty,” schemas that impact their daily functioning and emotional well-being.
Working across a variety of clinical settings with diverse populations has helped me develop flexibility in my therapeutic approach. I value adapting interventions to each individual’s needs, recognizing that every person’s experience is unique.
My work has primarily focused on children; however, I strongly believe that supporting children effectively means involving the family system as a whole. I’ve had the privilege of learning from experienced supervisors and mentors who have shaped my clinical perspective and approach to care.
I am committed to continuous learning and professional growth, expanding my skills through ongoing training, clinical experience, and supervision. I am currently completing the requirements for the BCBA board examination.
I’d love to support you on this journey — feel free to reach out to schedule a consultation.
“What is not being said is often the loudest part of the experience.”
