Miranda N. Springfield
Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern
Hi, I am Miranda N. Springfield. I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern who specializes in working with children, teens, and adults. I help those experiencing the aftermath of trauma, struggling in relationships, and dealing with depressive and anxious symptoms. My goal is to help you identify and address thought patterns and behaviors, collaborate on processing what you’re experiencing, and add some skills to your personal “toolbox.” Ultimately, I want to help you start living the life you want through healing and transformation.
I use a combination of experiential approaches, like play therapy and sand tray, along with traditional talk therapy.
What Led Me to Becoming a Therapist
My road to becoming a therapist was not a linear decision; rather, it was a role that found me. I knew I wanted to help people and make a difference in the world, and I try to leave the people and places around me a little better than how I found them.
While attending law school, I clerked for the Public Defender’s Office in Charleston, South Carolina. I had a front-row seat to families being torn apart — not just by the justice system, but by the poverty, substance abuse, and mental health struggles that had brought them there in the first place.
Once I became a licensed attorney, I began working in family law, where I again saw the pain of individuals unraveling their lives while trying to start anew, along with the children who often got caught in the crossfire. The more time I spent talking to my clients on a personal level, the more I realized that while I could help them in a courtroom, I found the greatest joy and fulfillment in hearing their stories and serving as a kind of pseudo-therapist to them.
At the suggestion of a colleague, and after sitting on the other side of the therapy room myself, I went back to school to become a therapist. That decision was rooted in a deep passion for justice — a belief that creating a safe, judgment-free space for people to share their inner worlds is foundational to healing.
What I Want for You During Our Sessions
I am committed to guiding you toward healing and transformation through understanding, collaboration, and inspiration in a nonjudgmental space. Our sessions will give you room to be understood and heard. As you feel safe and comfortable, you’ll be able to gain clarity and explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals — propelling you into action and helping you make the changes you want for your life.
My Education
I am a South Florida native. I have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University, a Juris Doctor degree from Nova University, and a master’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University.
I’m a lifelong student who loves learning from others, and I’m invested in evolving my knowledge and skills through ongoing training, consultation, and practicum. My clinical experience has been in the nonprofit world, working with families — children, adolescents, and adults, ages 6 to 18 — who have experienced domestic violence.
A Quote I Love
