Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern · Trauma-Informed · Multilingual: Greek & Russian

Hi, I’m Alexandra. I’m a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern working with children, adolescents, and adults. With children, I create a patient, playful space where they can build confidence and learn healthy ways to express big feelings. With teens, I offer a place to be heard without judgment while they work through stress, identity, relationships, and life changes. With adults, I support healing from anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and substance use concerns. Whatever your age or stage, my goal is the same: to help you release old patterns, reconnect with your strengths, and build a life that feels authentically yours. I draw on DBT, somatic and trauma-informed care, and solution-focused therapy, all grounded in a warm, client-centered approach.

What Led Me to Becoming a Therapist

Growing up in Greece, I learned early how to navigate challenges and family dynamics largely on my own. In 2019, I moved to the United States on a swimming scholarship — a new culture, a new language, a new life. That transition taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to keep myself afloat through change. Along the way, I discovered how powerful it is to have someone in your corner who truly listens and believes in you, and that discovery is what led me to become a therapist. I want to be that steady, supportive presence for others — someone who helps them build the confidence and self-understanding that make growth possible. Whether I’m working with a child, a teen, or an adult, I want every client to know they don’t have to face things alone.

What I Want for You During Our Sessions

Taking the first step toward therapy takes courage, and I honor you for it. Our sessions will be a calm space where you’re fully heard, without judgment. Together, we’ll explore what’s been keeping you stuck, understand your emotions and patterns, and find the tools that work best for you. For children and families, that can include play, movement, and hands-on activities, along with support for parents. We’ll move at your pace, and you’ll always be a partner in the process. Services are offered in English, Greek, and Russian.

    My Education and Experience

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communication Marketing from Keiser University and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lynn University. I currently work as a Primary Therapist at Kandela Recovery Center, supporting individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health conditions. There, I lead DBT, REBT, and trauma-informed groups, provide individual and family sessions, and collaborate closely with psychiatry and medical teams — work that has given me a strong clinical foundation. I’m a learner at heart, and my greatest teachers have been my clients; every person I work with continues to shape and deepen the way I practice.

    What Swimming Taught Me

For the past four years, I’ve run my own private swim instruction business, teaching children as young as toddlers how to swim. Working one-on-one with kids in the pool taught me how to build trust quickly, work with fear and frustration, and celebrate every small step forward, all while working closely with parents to support their child’s progress and confidence. I bring that same patience, playfulness, and encouragement into my work with children and teens in therapy.

“Teaching children to swim taught me that confidence grows through trust, patience, and small steps. That’s what I hope to offer every client I work with.”
