    Cary Scheinbaum, BBA, MS, RMHC

Hello, my name is Cary Scheinbaum. I am a bilingual (Spanish and English) Registered Mental Health Counselor specializing in working with couples, older adults, and children. My approach incorporates talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and play therapy. My goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where stress and feelings of vulnerability are minimized, not amplified. Open communication and a thorough intake process to understand your unique issues, needs, and goals are at the core of my practice.

What Led Me To Becoming A Therapist

Although I grew up in a loving family, I faced my own struggles with depression. As a single mother, I built and expanded a company with 30 employees and agents in 120 countries. Much of my time felt like social work or therapy, as I resolved a wide range of challenges, including spousal abuse, substance abuse, criminal activity, caregiver emergencies, and food and housing crises.

Colleagues and friends often encouraged me to formalize my skills, leading me to pursue academic certification in counseling. In 2015, after being recruited to the United States, I decided to dedicate myself fully to helping others find solace, support, and hope through professional counseling.

What I Want for You During Our Sessions

In our work together, I encourage you to “think outside the box.” While it’s common to dive straight into resolving problems, I believe this approach can sometimes distract from identifying the most pressing issues. Instead, I aim to help you prioritize your challenges realistically. Together, we’ll explore which issue to address first and why, ensuring we focus on what matters most for your well-being.

    My Education and Experience

I began my education at Panama’s prestigious bilingual Panamerican Institute, followed by an associate degree at the Fashion Institute in Miami. I earned a B.S. in Business from InterAmerican University in Puerto Rico, participated in MBA coursework in international business and logistics, and completed a double M.S. in Mental Health Therapy and Family Counseling at Palm Beach Atlantic University, with a special certification in Play Therapy.

As a counselor, I spent a year with the Employee Assistance Program of Palm Beach County. Additionally, I worked alongside Broward first responders, training with firefighter cadets in Orlando to deepen my understanding of their experiences and challenges.

    My Commitment to You

“I am committed to listening and understanding my clients’ needs first. Only then can we work together to create a plan that leads to a positive and fulfilling life journey.”
