Luana Felicio, MS, Registered Mental Health Intern, EMDR trained (Bilingual – Portuguese)

Welcome, I am so glad you are here!

I am Luana Felicio, a Registered Mental Health Counseling Intern passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with greater hope, healing, and self-understanding. I believe that every person has inherent worth and the capacity for growth, even during difficult seasons. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and person-centered. I strive to create a safe and supportive space where we can explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences without fear of judgment.

I am dedicated to working with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties, self-esteem concerns, and spiritual questions. I enjoy incorporating creative and experiential approaches into therapy when appropriate, helping clients engage in the healing process in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to them.

I am also passionate about integrating faith into the counseling process for clients who desire it. As a Christian, I believe faith and scripture- based tools can be a powerful source of healing and hope. I am honored to walk alongside clients as they explore both their emotional and spiritual well-being.

What Led Me to Becoming a Therapist

My desire to become a therapist began with a deep love for people and a curiosity about their stories. Through my own personal experiences and challenges, I had the opportunity to engage in the difficult yet rewarding work of therapy myself. Experiencing the growth that can occur within the therapeutic process gave me a firsthand understanding of how transformative it can be. I became increasingly passionate about helping others experience that same sense of healing and hope.

I consider it a privilege to walk alongside individuals during vulnerable seasons of life. Whether someone is facing anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, or questions about their identity and purpose, my goal is to provide support, encouragement, and practical tools that empower them to move forward with confidence and hope.

What I Want for You During Our Sessions

My hope is that you feel welcomed, respected, and understood from the moment we begin working together. I want therapy to be a space where you can bring your authentic self without feeling the need to hide or perform. Healing often begins when we feel safe enough to be honest about where we are and compassionate toward ourselves in the process.

Together, we will explore the challenges you are facing, develop insight into patterns that may no longer be serving you, and build practical strategies that support your goals. I believe meaningful change happens through a combination of self-awareness, connection, and action.

My goal is not only to help you navigate your current difficulties but also to help you develop greater confidence and feel more connected to yourself and others around you.

    My Education

I earned both my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Florida Atlantic University.

Throughout my clinical training and internship experience, I worked with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds in a community mental health setting. I have supported clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, and spiritual concerns. In addition to individual counseling, I facilitated psychoeducational and process groups for both children and adults.

I have also worked with children using creative and experiential approaches, including Sand Tray Therapy and play therapy. I believe that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, which is why I approach each client with a commitment to developing a treatment plan that is tailored to their unique needs and goals. As part of my ongoing professional development, I have completed Basic EMDR Training. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a highly effective, evidence-based approach that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic experiences and other distressing life events. I remain committed to continued learning and growth so that I can provide thoughtful, compassionate, and effective care to the clients I serve.
